Transport and Travel

Below is some information about different travel options to and from the conference. Please research your own travel arrangements to confirm details as we cannot guarantee that the information is up-to-date and correct.

Car Parking: The Westgate car park on campus (accessible by the Westgate Entrance) has been earmarked for conference delegates. It is then just a short walk to the main building and its South-side where most conference activity will take place. Parking spaces are limited. Visitors are encouraged to use alternative transport to and from campus.

Registered delegates will receive a campus map and printable parking permit specifically for the Westgate car park by email nearer the time.


Bus:  Leeds Trinity University is served by the number 97 Leeds – Guiseley (via University of Leeds – Headingley – Horsforth – Yeadon) bus. The number 97 bus stops right outside our campus entrance and can take you into the centre of Leeds via Headingley. To get to Leeds Trinity University from Leeds city centre, the 97 bus can be caught at several key locations, including Leeds bus station,  The Headrow (bus stop H10), Albion Street (bus stop J3) and Woodhouse Lane (bus stop L2) with the bus stop to get off at immediately after Leeds Trinity University’s campus main entrance on Brownberrie Lane, Horsforth.

Delegates arriving on the Friday in time for registration and the welcome address may want to catch the 97 buses which leave Leeds City bus station at  8.33 and 8.53, arriving outside campus for around 9.15 and 9.40 respectively.

Delegates arriving on the Saturday in time for registration and the welcome address may want to catch the 97 bus which leave Leeds City bus station at  8.05, arriving outside campus for around 8.40.

To get from Leeds Trinity University campus to Leeds city centre by the 97 bus, the bus stop is a short distance down Brownberrie Lane (opposite campus’s playing field) with the bus stopping along the way through Headingley and at several bus stops in the Leeds city centre before terminating at Leeds bus station.

Buses are every 20 minutes Monday – Saturday but change to every 30/60minutes during evenings and on Sundays. Journeys can take between 40 – 60 minutes depending on traffic. A  MetroDay (Leeds) ticket can purchased for £6 covering your journey to and from Leeds Trinity University (valid for that day only).


Train: Leeds Trinity University is situated 1 mile away from Horsforth train station. Trains run regularly from Leeds, Harrogate, Knaresborough and York to Horsforth. Horsforth train station is convenient for those wanting to get to and from Leeds train station where it commences from and terminates (which is only a 15 minute journey by train).

It is served by the Harrogate line. Trains are frequent, every 30 minutes during peak times but every 60 minutes in the evening. Please click this link for the latest West Yorkshire Metro Harrogate line  timetable.

Delegates arriving on the Friday in time for registration and the welcome address may want to catch the 8.30 or 8.59 train from Leeds train station  and arriving at Horsforth train station by 8.43 and 9.12 respectively (please confirm these times as these may change nearer the time of the conference). Friday delegates can use the LTU shuttle bus to get to campus from Horsforth train station – see details below.

Delegates arriving on the Saturday in time for registration and the welcome address may want to catch the 7.55 or 8.29 train from Leeds train station  and arriving at Horsforth train station by 8.08 and 8.42 respectively (please confirm these times as these may change nearer the time of the conference).

Walking directions from Horsforth station

On leaving the station, turn right. Walk past a parade of shops to your right until you reach a roundabout and the Old Ball pub. Turn right onto Brownberrie Lane and continue until you see Leeds Trinity University on your left-hand side.

Please note that it is a 15 – 20 minute walk between campus and Horsforth train station. 


LTU Shuttle Bus (FRIDAY ONLY): Leeds Trinity University operates a shuttle bus term-time and weekdays (Mon – Fri) to and from LTU and Horsforth train station, timed to pick up passengers a few minutes after a scheduled train stop and take passengers to Horsforth train station in time for a due train.

Delegates on the Friday only can make use for the free shuttle service. The shuttle bus picks up passengers from the bus stop opposite Horsforth train station , just outside Hamiltons sandwich shop and Mousie Browns hair salon on Station Road. Delegates arriving Friday morning in time for registration and the welcome address can catch the 8.48 or 9.17 shuttle bus which arrives at LTU 5 minutes later. Delegates arriving later in the day can also use the shuttle bus service which operates throughout the day every 30 minutes.

Delegates can also use the LTU shuttle bus service throughout the day to return to Horsforth train station. The bus stop to get off at is on Station Road, just after the Tesco Express on your left hand side before the train station. It operates every 30 minutes, with the last shuttle bus leaving at 6:53pm.



Air: Leeds Trinity University is only 2 miles away Leeds-Bradford airport. Please visit the Leeds-Bradford Airport website for more details about internal and external flights.


Taxis: Leeds Trinity University recommends the Horsforth-based taxi firm Arrow Cars (Phone: 0113 258 5888) who have reasonable rates to and from Leeds city centre, Leeds train station, Leeds-Bradford airport etc.

Leeds Trinity University have an agreement with Arrow Cars which means that fares to and from the University are set at a discounted rate.  The agreement also means that staff and students receive priority over other customers.
